I usually struggle with the 5 Fandom Friday topics because a lot of the talking points are just not relevant to me at all, but this particular one is something I would be crazy to miss out on!
I haven’t really had much time to play video games lately, but I still do squeeze in the occasional session; mostly on the weekends when I can afford to stay up a bit later and have a zombie day with the kids.
Read on to learn what games I’m loving right now.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
While I haven’t really talked much about this game, I reactivated my account late last week and any solid game time I have has been dedicated to it. I am currently leveling a Miqo’te Arcanist on Tonberry and I am quite enjoying my return to the MMO scene. So far there seems to be a few similarities to WoW, but plenty of defining differences, too… But that’s a post for another day! I’m only level 19 at the moment and have only just scratched the surface of what this game has to offer. So far, I do like what I see, though!

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft
I’ve been enjoying working through the new Blackrock Mountain solo adventure (How fun are the Mage and Warrior class challenges?!), as well as dabbling in a bit of arena.
I am still bloody awful at the game; I set a new personal best of 3-3 in the arena and have not managed to take out a single Blackrock boss in heroic mode, but I am still loving it none the less.
Rank wise, I have made a few changes to my Shaman and have also been brave enough to take my Oil Rogue for a spin and have gotten to Rank 16 fairly easily. I have definitely improved a lot since I started playing in January, and what’s not to love about that?!

TERA
I reinstalled this one before I decided to spend the cash to resubscribe to Final Fantasty, and I still love it just as much as I did all those years ago when I first started playing it. However, Imy efforts to convince Disconcur to join me fell on deaf ears. He is so content with his current games list that he had no desire to add yet another one to it. Also, I wasn’t a high enough level to try out the Reaper Class that was added last expansion. Sadness.

Gems of War
Ah, this game is a riot. It’s like Bejewelled had a mutant baby with Hearthstone, and it’s amazing. It’s perfect for those Battle.net maintenance times when you still want to get your PvP (or PvE) card game fix without wallet dropping massive amounts of cash on Magic: the Gathering Online. Basically, your cards are ‘troops’ and you charge their attacks with ‘mana’ that you collect by matching gems of the corresponding mana colour. It’s quite an enjoyable free-to-play title.
Peggle Nights
Even though it came out in 2008, I still enjoy playing this game occasionally. Peggle has saved my hide on so many occasions — occasions where I am either completely without internet or I have had too much wine to even possibly contemplate playing anything else. Thankfully, Peggle has just enough luck factor that it is enjoyable both sober and wrecked.
These days, both conditions that result in Peggle coming out of the ol’ Steam library are very rare, but I can honestly say that if my internet were to die right now, I would forget about my rage at having no internet pretty quickly once I got into the game.
